Clark Christie Sherrett was born on April 14, 1936 in Herman, Minnesota, the son of Charles Christie and Reba (Findley) Sherrett. He was baptized on October 10, 1937 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Herman. He grew up on a farm outside of Herman and attended Herman High School.
He was enlisted into the United States Army in 1954 stationed over in Germany for most of his tour. He was honorably discharged in 1958.
Clark returned to Minnesota after serving his country. He was united in marriage to Jean Iris Haugen on April 18, 1959 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Norcross, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple moved to Minneapolis where they started their family. Clark was driving city bus at that time. Later the couple moved to Coon Rapids where he was driving truck for Widholm Trucking. In September of 1969 Clark and Jean were in an automobile accident where Jean was killed and Clark was severely injured and it took several months to recover. He later purchased Goal Post Bar in Coon Rapids where he owned and operated until meeting Grace (Harris) Schminkey. Clark and Grace were married on June 5, 1971 in Minneapolis. The couple moved to Alexandria shortly after their marriage to get a fresh start and bought Green Acres Resort on Lake Darling which they owned until moving to Garfield in 1982. Clark had also started trucking again and operated as CC Sherrett & Son.
Clark will be remembered as a good man who took care of his family. He enjoyed hunting pheasants, ducks, shooting pool and his black labs.
Mr. Sherrett died on Monday, January 8, 2018. He is survived by his children: Cal of Holmes City, MN, Pam Lien of Coon Rapids, Lori Sherrett of St. Francis, Kristi Calvert of Brooklyn Park; four grandchildren: Jacob Ziegler, Cole Calvin Sherrett, Skyler Helen Sherrett, Canyon Clark Sherrett; sisters: Dorothy (Deane) Schmidt of Fergus Falls and Gladys Haugen of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; and wife, Grace; brothers: Gordon, Bill and Richard; and sisters: Margaret Howard and Audrey Asmus.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. www.andersonfuneral.net
