James Howard Tillotson, the son of Charles Leon and Ella Mae (Leavitt) Tillotson, was born February 9, 1929 in New Haven Township.
Jim attended grade school and then enlisted into the United States Army. While serving in the Army, Jim attained a Combat Infantry Badge, UN Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars and the National Defense Service Medal. Jim honorably served his country from February 16, 1951 until December 15, 1954.
After Jim returned home, he married and three children, Charles, Renee, and Sheila were born. He worked in the autobody industry for many years. Some memories of Jim will be him fishing with his brother for sturgeon up north, playing Yatzee and fishing area lakes. Jim will also be remembered for his love of planes. He built many model airplanes and watched planes take off and land at the airport in International Falls, MN with his children.
James H. Tillotson died on January 19, 2019 at Alomere Health in Alexandria at the age of 89 years old. He is survived by his son, Charles (Lori) Tillotson of Alexandria; daughter, Renee (Richard) Klaes of Kittanning, PA; six grandchildren, Derek, David, Joshua, Dawn, Angel and Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sheila Hatton, four sisters, Dorothy, Helen, Edith June (Ruth) and Doris Jean; and two brothers, Bill and Wes.
A Time of Remembrance will be held from 1-4 PM on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the
Anderson’s On Broadway Chapel, 801 Broadway Street, Alexandria, MN.
