Roger Emery Anderson was born on March 12, 1928, the son of Clarence and Prudence (Elg) Anderson. He attended school in Comfrey graduating in 1946. Roger married his high school sweetheart LaVonne on November 9, 1946. They were blessed with four children; Darla, Steven, Bradley and Rachelle. The couple farmed 23 years in Comfrey. Roger then went to work for Land O’Lakes delivering bulk fuel to the farmers in the tri county area. In 1998, their home in Comfrey was destroyed by the March tornado. They decided to move to Alexandria to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law.
Their home (wherever the location) was always open to friends and family and anyone wanting good conversation and way too much to eat.
Roger loved to volunteer and was very involved in the Lions and Kiwanis. He enjoyed singing in the church choir. He enjoyed playing a variety of sports, but nothing gave him more joy than following his children, grandchildren, and even a few great grandchildren in their many and varied activities.
Roger died on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. He is survived by his children: Darla Long, Steven (Lynnae) Anderson, Brad (Jan) Anderson, Rachelle (Ken) Waldron, 10 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren.
