Adeline Anna Petrik Brezina Tvrdik, age 99, died May 31, 2013, at Knute Nelson Memorial Home. Adeline was born in Chicago in 1913, the daughter of James and Marie Sejnost Petrik. Adeline married Frank Tvrdik on June 20, 1932. They farmed rented land at several locations until 1937, after which Frank opened an auto repair garage in Forada. Four children were born to them. Frank died in 1950. In 1955 Adeline enrolled at Minneapolis Business College. She then worked as a bookkeeper for the Alexandria Clinic for 23 years, retiring in 1980. Adeline enjoyed needlework and was an avid reader. After retirement, she volunteered at the Knute Nelson coffee shop and was a deacon at First Congregational United Church of Christ. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, her son Colin and daughter-in-law Diane Tvrdik, and son-in-law Dwaine Johnson. Also her brother Thomas Brezina and sisters Lily Whiteman, Rose Hlinsky, and Evelyn Tvrdik. She is survived by her daughters Genevieve Tvrdik (married to Willis Ratzlaff), Audrey Johnson, and Sandra Schulte (married to Ellry). She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on June 6 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Alexandria.
