OBITUARY

Adolph “Bud” Tillman Erickson was born on February 24, 1923 in Starbuck, MN to Hilmer and Josie (Thorson) Erickson. Bud grew up on a farm near Starbuck and attended grade school until the eighth grade. Bud was united in marriage to Alice Johnson on April 8, 1950 in Big Fork, MN. Together they had one son, Wayne, and made their home in Alexandria.

Bud delivered ice cream for Crest Haven Dairy to stores and creameries around Minnesota for 23 years. After a short time working at 3M, Bud began working in District #206 delivering food and supplies to the seven schools in the district. Bud retired in 1988 and began his own business, E&E yards works, which later became known as Erickson’s Quality Lawn Care. Bud continued working with the family business until he was 89 years old. Bud will always be remembered for his hard work and attention to detail.

Bud’s hobbies included hunting, fishing and watching WWF Wrestling with wife, Alice. One of Bud’s favorite pastimes was watching car races. He attended every race held at the Viking Speedway for 34 consecutive years. Bud loved his pets, especially his dog Sport, and granddog, Bella. He cherished time spent with his son, Wayne, and his wife, Cindy, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bud Erickson died on Monday, October 27, 2014 at his home at the age of 91 years old. He is survived by his son Wayne (Cindy) Erickson of Alexandria; grandchildren Mark (Jackie) Erickson of Alexandria, C.J. (Carly) Erickson of Alexandria, Jordan (Emily) Erickson of Grand Forks, ND, Emalee Erickson of Alexandria; step grandchildren Alyssa (Blake) Swanson of Purcellville, VA, Ashley (Jordan) Courneya of Fargo, ND, Chase Courneya of Fargo, ND, and Tye Courneya of Alexandria; great grandchildren Carter and Gavin Erickson of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice Erickson, and brother Harold Erickson.

A funeral service was held on Friday, October 31, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Greg Billberg officiating. Interment was in Geneva Cemetery. Casket Bearers were Mark Erickson, C.J. Erickson, Jordan Erickson, Emalee Erickson, Darrell Leverson, and Steve Wenz. Honorary Casket Bearers were Carter Erickson, Gavin Erickson, and Lawrence Moe.
