Agnes Mary (Macheledt) Zachow was born October 8, 1919 in Morton, MN to Albert and Agnes (Mersnich) Macheledt, the youngest of nine children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Agnes graduated from Morton High School in 1937. Agnes and Roland ?Rollie? Zachow were united in marriage on August 24, 1938 in Olivia, MN. They made their home in Morton until WWII. During the war they lived in Washington, Idaho and Utah until Rollie joined the Navy. After the war they resided in Redwood Falls, Glenwood, and Dallas, TX. They have resided in Alexandria for the past 28 years and were members of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed volunteering at Knute Nelson Home and First Lutheran Church. Agnes also enjoyed her time with friends in card clubs, golf and was an excellent seamstress. Agnes died on September 28, 2008 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 88. She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Rollie; son, Roland Lee (Delores) of Colome, SD; daughter, Arlyce (Dennis) Johnson of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Agnes is preceded in death by her parents, and eight siblings. Funeral services were held Monday, October 6, 2008 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Greg Billberg officiating. Music was provided by Annetta Knowles, soloist and Randy Morken, organist. Casket bearers were Agnes?s family members and honorary casket bearers were all of Agnes?s bridge and golfing friends. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
