Alan Michael Chalmers was born on November 24, 1980, to Philip and Sharon (Morin) Chalmers in Alexandria, Minnesota. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria, the class of 1999.
He was united in marriage to Kimberly Wall on August 25, 2001, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria. The couple continued to make their home in Alexandria and were blessed with two children, Cadence and Mason. Alan worked as a roofer with Buttweiler’s Do-All for many years. Two weeks ago, Alan started a new job working for Dustbusters.
Alan enjoyed fishing, having bonfires, swimming or anything outdoors. He loved his Minnesota Vikings, being a homebody, spending time with his family, especially with his kids. Alan will be remembered as a simple guy that enjoyed the little things, with a lot of good memories and lots of laughs.
Alan died on Monday, October 23, 2017, from drowning on Spring Lake in Grant County, while fishing in his favorite spot at the age of 36. He is survived by his wife, Kim of Alexandria; daughter, Cadence; son, Mason; father, Philip Chalmers of Mission, TX; step-mom, Donna Chalmers of Cottonwood, AZ; sister, Angelique (Mark) Beaupre of Big Lake; brothers, John (Leah) Chalmers of Osakis and James (Melissa) Chalmers of Bemidji; brother-in-law, Scott (Sarah) Wall of Mayer, MN, many nieces and nephews; and cousins. Alan is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon; maternal grandparents, Frank and Marie Morin; and paternal grandparents, Robert and Shirley Chalmers.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:30 AM on Friday, October 27, 2017, at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
