Alanah Faber

August 27, 1997 — September 10, 2016

Alanah Marie Faber, the daughter of David Faber and Sheila Barsness, was born on August 27, 1997 in Alexandria, MN. She grew up in Alexandria and enjoyed spending time with her family especially with her Grandma Kay and Grandma Diane. She attended Alexandria schools and was active in many activities and sports including, soccer, figure skating, dance and volleyball. Alanah entered the Miss Minnesota Junior Teen Pageant in 2014, where she won the title of Miss Personality. Following her graduation from Alexandria Area High School in 2015, Alanah moved to Garfield, MN with her boyfriend Shawn Miller, where they enjoyed the summer building their home. When she wasn't working, she could always be found outside hunting, fishing, shooting trap, tending her garden, riding four-wheeler or playing with her pets. She formed close relationships with Shawn's family, especially with his sister Jody.

In June of 2016, Shawn and Alanah became members of Spirit Life Church in Alexandria, where they surrendered their hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ on June 26th, 2016. They were committed to continuing their lives serving the Lord and following His word.

Alanah was known to all as a natural caregiver, and put her whole heart and compassionate nature into her job at Knute Nelson and Grand Arbor, of Alexandria, while also working hard towards earning her AA Degree from Alexandria Technical & Community College. Alanah was the recent recipient of a scholarship through Knute Nelson, as they saw her dedication and commitment to serving those she cared for and her plans to pursue her nursing degree.

Alanah made an immediate, lasting impression on those who had the privilege of meeting her. Her bright, beautiful smile was infectious, and it was impossible to be unhappy in her presence. She not only brought out the best in those she knew, but never failed to see the value in everything around her. She enjoyed thrifting and antiquing and loved bringing life back into things old and otherwise forgotten. Alanah truly had a heart of gold and brought so much love and joy into the world. She will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.

Alanah M. Faber died on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the age of 19 years old. She is survived by her mother, Sheila Barsness of Alexandria; father, Dave Faber (Lori Rehovsky) of Alexandria; boyfriend, Shawn Miller of Alexandria, brothers Ryan (Marie) Smith of Lemoore, CA and Chase Faber of Alexandria; sister, Danielle Faber of New Salem, ND; step-father Ingvald Barsness of Brandon; grandparents, Diane (Robert) Smith of Brandon and Jerald Faber of Alexandria; aunt, Paula Faber (Mike Sturges) of Brandon; uncles, Chris Faber (Julie Cassell) of Alexandria and David (Dawn) Smith of Albany; cousins, Cameron Smith, Ashlee (Cory) Abers, Jenell Faber, Allison Sturges, Cody Faber, Jenna Sturges, and Marissa Sturges; and very special friends Joel and Jennifer Grueneich of Alexandria.
