Aldythe Elaine Jenstad was born April 5, 1917 in Plaza, ND, the daughter of Anton and Bloomie (Quesnell) Jenstad. Ali moved to Hopkins, MN with her family where she graduated from Hopkins High School. On May 14, 1938 Ali was joined in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Gordon Johnson. Following Gordon?s service in the military the couple made their home in St. Louis Park. They were blessed with two children, Ronald and Thomas. In the late 1940?s Gordy and Ali helped establish St. George?s Episcopal Church. Ali was very active at St. George?s; she served on the altar guild and dedicated herself to the music of the church serving as organist for twenty-five years. After moving to Miltona and Alexandria they attended Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Alexandria. In 1975, following Gordy?s retirement, he and Ali moved to Lake Miltona. In 1999 the couple moved into Alexandria. Since 2004, she lived at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River, where she was tended by a wonderful staff. Ali loved flowers and shopping for bargains. She always enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives in her home. Ali was proud of her cooking and the comfort it gave to others. Music was very important in her life. Ali played the organ at home and would often join Gordy in a duet with him at the piano. On Wednesday, October 29, 2008 Ali died at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her brother Donald ?Bud? (Liz) Jenstad; son, Tom Johnson (Wanda Copeland) of Ramsey, MN; daughter-in-law, Patricia Johnson (Duane Larson) of Miltona and Lake Havasu City; grandchildren Patrick (Cindy) Johnson, Todd (Karen) Johnson, Christine (Dominic) D?Amico and Michael (Nina) Johnson; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Ali is preceded in death by her brothers Forest (Lois) and Gil (Donna); husband, Gordon and son, Ronald. A memorial service will be held 11 AM on Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Rev. Wanda Copeland will officiate. Randy Morken will provide music. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the music ministry at St. George?s Episcopal Church in St. Louis Park, MN or memorials of donor?s choice. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
