Alfred Palmer Ellertson was born April 8, 1923 in Langhei Township south of Starbuck, MN the son of Otto and Alma (Nelson) Ellertson. He attended country school In Langhei though the fifth grade. Following his schooling Alfred worked with his father. He and his parents moved to Alexandria, MN where he continued to work for his father. Following his mother?s death Alfred lived with and provided care for his father as long as he was able to. Alfred was a self-taught auto mechanic. He worked at Andy?s Interlachen Inn in Alexandria. He also worked as a tree trimmer and did lawn care. Alfred liked working hard. Alfred had a small place on Blackwell Lake near Holmes City, MN where he went fishing summer and winter. He also enjoyed deer hunting. On Sunday, March 15, 2009 Alfred died at the age of eighty-five years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Elmer Ellertson, Arthur Ellertson and infant, Lloyd Ellertson. Alfred is survived by three sisters, Olivia (Clifton) Botner of Alexandria, MN, Pearle Kaehler of St. Paul, MN and Inez (Harvey) Jacobson of Big Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Rev. James Oakland officiated. Interment was in the Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Honorary casket bearers included al of Alfred?s nieces and nephews. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
