OBITUARY Alice Margaret Baumann was born August 10, 1918 on a farm near Armstrong, Iowa to Christian and Nora Welte. The family moved to a farm in Martin County near Fairmont, MN in 1923 and she attended a country school in Pleasant Prairie. Alice graduated from Granada High School and then the Humboldt Business College in Minneapolis, MN. She worked for her board and room and rode the street car to college. After completing college she returned home to care for her mother. Alice worked for the Woolworth Co. in Fairmont, MN. She met Erwin Baumann and they were united in marriage on March 3, 1940. She continued to work until their first son, David was born on October 18, 1940. Erwin was drafted for work at Igloo, S. Dakota, during World War II. Their second son, James was born April 9, 1945 at Edgemont, S. Dakota, and as soon as the war was over they moved back to Sherburn, MN. On June 29, 1949 their third son, Richard was born at Fairmont, MN. On Sept 18, 1955 their fourth son, Erwin was born at Glenwood, MN. In 1966, Alice went back to work for the Woolworth Co. in Alexandria, MN until 1979 when she moved to San Antonia, Texas and transferred to a Woolco store. Alice and David moved back to Alexandria, MN after her husband Erwin died on June 6, 1981. She and David liked to travel and took several trips. Alice also liked to sew, bake and garden. Alice M. Baumann died on April 12, 2014 at the age of 95 years. She is survived by her sons David of Alexandria, MN, James (Ruth) of Henderson, Nevada, Richard (Dennene) of Riviera, Florida, Erwin of Fosston, MN, brother Donald (Laura) Welte of Livingston, Texas, sister Velma Wolter, Utah sister-in-law Vivian Erickson of Sherburn, MN, 12 Grandchildren, 15 Great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 2 sisters Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria www.andersonfuneral.net
