Alice Juettner

June 13, 1933 — January 1, 2019

Alexandria, MN

Alice Mae Juettner was born at home on June 13, 1933 on a farm in Osakis, Minnesota.  Her father served as State Representative for 18 years while her mother stayed at home to help manage the farm and raise Alice.  Alice attended the local one room school house and later attended St. Cloud State Teachers College.  After obtaining her teaching degree, she taught elementary school in Minneapolis until starting her family.

On June 18, 1955 Alice was united in marriage to John (Jack) Wayne Juettner at Incarnation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, MN.  They were blessed with four children: Mark, Julie, Cathy, and Jackie.  Alice was a classy lady, but more importantly she was an extremely loving, supportive, and selfless mother.  Alice was dedicated to raising her family and running the household.  She was a great cook, role model, and a teacher at heart.  She was honest and encouraging, and taught her children right from wrong, how to stand up for yourself, treat people with respect and compassion, and to work hard, but take some time to smell the roses too.  She lived by the statements, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” and “If you can’t say anything good about someone, don’t say anything at all.”  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, attending plays, golfing, boating, and playing cards.  She is preceded in death by her husband Jack and her parents Mable and Otto Clark and her infant sister Maxine.  She is survived by her four children: Mark (Kris) Juettner, Julie (Lee) Gustafson, Cathy Juettner, Jackie (Mark) Barger, and eleven grandchildren:  Jessica (Adam) Downing, Jaimie (Micah) Stevenson, Joe (Lisa) Juettner, Jake Juettner, Andrea (Jason) Wood, Lauren Gustafson, Whitney Wiitanen, Emily (Lee) Tetrick, Olivia Wiitanen, Abby Barger, Julia Barger, and seven great grandchildren:  Ella, Sophia, Mia, and Aiden Downing, Aletta Stevenson, Mason and Savannah Wood.

Visitation will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home located at 659 Voyager Drive in Alexandria on Friday, January 4 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria located at 420 Irving Street on Saturday, January 5 at 2:30 p.m., officiated by Father Steve Binsfeld.  Funeral services will be preceded by a visitation at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of St. Mary.  Hors d’oeuvres and dessert will immediately follow the funeral mass.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Alice to Hospice of Douglas County, 809 Elm Street, Suite 1200, Alexandria, MN 56308 (www.hospicedouglascounty.org) whose staff so lovingly cared for her the past 6 months.
