Alice Sletto

Alice Ovedia was born to Otto and Annie Johnson on June 25, 1915 in Moe Township, Douglas County, Minnesota. There, she attended school up thru the fifth grade. She enjoyed art and taught herself to play the piano. Alice married Anton E. Sletto on January 21, 1933 and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage. They were blessed with five children: Darlene, Ardelle, E. Omar, Arland and Sheryl. Alice worked many years at Bethany Home in Alexandria as a certified nursing assistant. She lived most of her life in Brandon and Alexandria MN and the last six years at Park River Estates Care Center in Coon Rapids, MN. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, reading, playing the piano, and BINGO. Alice died on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the Park River Estates Care Center in Coon Rapids at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband. She will be lovingly remembered by her five children, Darlene Fedje of Coon Rapids, MN; Ardelle (Ralph) Scholl of St. Petersburg, FL; E. Omar (Jody) Sletto of Ocean View, DE; Arland (Carol) Sletto of Springfield, TN; Sheryl Watson of Land ?O? Lakes, FL, 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at West Moe Lutheran Church in rural Brandon with Reverend Don Clifford officiating. Music was provided by organist, Barb Gulbranson and soloists, Mechell Turok, Carol Hillstrom, Marianne Bergerson, Evelyn Roberts. Interment will be in the West Moe Lutheran Church Cemetery. Casket bearers were Lydon Sletto, Ron Sletto, Terry Sletto, Roy Sletto, Jeff Varness, Shad Sletto, Jeff Kiehne, and Brian Blood. Honorary casket bearers were all of Alice?s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
