Alice Wagner

Alice was born on April 14, 1914, the daughter of Max and Anna (Rohloff) Luetgers of Brandon, Minnesota. She had an older brother, Louie, two younger brothers, George and Elmer, and one sister, Rose. She grew up near Brandon and attended elementary school through eighth grade, skipping seventh grade at district 44 school. She took ninth grade at Evansville school and finished by taking tenth through twelfth grades in Morris, graduating from high school in 1932 from the Morris Ag School. After High School she worked in Minneapolis and St Paul in several private houses doing various types of domestic services until World War II occurred. She joined the Women?s Army Auxiliary Corp during World War II where she achieved the Rank of Technical Specialist 5. She performed part of her duties in the Army on the island of New Guinea in the Pacific Ocean. She was united in marriage to Ralph Wagner on October 24, 1950. Ralph worked as a carpenter and general contractor. Her husband Ralph died in April 1986. She worked as a nurse?s aide at St Luke?s Nursing Home, then at Bethany Nursing Home, then at Lady of Mercy Hospital. After Lady of Mercy Hospital merged with Douglas County Hospital, she transferred there where she worked as a Central Supply Aide. She retired in 1984. She was a member of St Petri Lutheran Church until she married. After she married, she became a member of St Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria. She enjoys reading, playing cards, bingo, doing crossword puzzles, and visiting with friends and family. In the past, she was also an avid bowler winning many trophies. She has three children, her son Thomas of Montgomery, Alabama, daughter Maxine Wagner of West Fargo, ND and daughter Marilyn Falk (Robert) of Bremerton WA. She also has 3 grandchildren: Angela Falk, Steven Falk and Richard Falk. She has numerous nieces and nephews on both her side of the family and on Ralph's side. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 27, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Father Steve Binsfeld officiating. Burial was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
