Allan Lloyd Peterson was born on February 5, 1938, in Viborg, SD to Wendell and Sylvia (Hansen) Peterson. He graduated from Strandburg, SD High School in 1956. Allan enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1958 to 1960 and was stationed in Korea. After his discharge Allan went to work at a gas station in Milbank, SD, where he met Carol.
Allan was united in marriage to Carol Ebert on October 7, 1961, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville. The couple made their home in Watertown, SD and were blessed with 4 children, Pam, John, Kerry and Kathy. Allan worked for Pepsi in sales and delivery. In 1972, the family moved to Alexandria where Allan worked for Old Home Bread for a few years, then worked with Old Dutch, and later worked as a salesman for Hillyard. After retiring from his sales career, Allan worked at the Alexandria Rest Stop off the interstate. He enjoyed visiting and getting to know people, and even created some pen pal friendships. Allan also found joy in volunteering at Bethany on the Lake.
Allan enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching birds, listening to the police scanner, CB radio, and making good conversation. He also enjoyed going to coffee and breakfast at the Coffee Pot and watching Judge Judy or anything on Court TV. Allan had a passion for the Minnesota Vikings and electronics. Most of all, Allan loved being connected with people and was rich with family. Allan also loved his church and had a deep faith. He had the warm and kind heart along with his great sense of humor. Allan would always sign off with farewell of saying Peace and Love. Peace and Love, Allan you will be missed and forever cherished.
