Allen V. Knollenberg Allen Victor Knollenberg was born in Slayton, Minnesota, on October 30, 1944, the son of Harold and Ila (Nord) Knollenberg. He grew up in Iona and graduated from high school in Chandler, Minnesota in the Class of 1962. Following high school he served in the United States Army at Fort Belvoir near Washington, D.C. While in the military service he learned bookkeeping. Following his Honorable Discharge from the army he began his career in agriculture which eventually led to work as a comptroller for the CHS (Harvest States) Corporation. He began at the elevator in Delft, Minnesota, where he met Audrey Aas. Audrey and Allen were united in marriage on June 14, 1969, in Windom, Minnesota. The couple raised three children, Brad, Traci, and Angela. In 1976, Allen, Audrey, and their young family moved to Langdon, North Dakota and Allen eventually served as a Field Representative for CHS (Harvest States) in the communities of Hatton, ND; Minot, ND; Aberdeen, SD; and eventually Alexandria in 1994. Allen was known by his peers and his friends as a dedicated worker for his employer. Allen was active in many pursuits including playing softball, raising and riding horses, being an active parent with his children and being a true Minnesota Vikings fan as well as being an avid card player. He also was an especially proud grandparent. Allen served his community as a member of the Lions Club and by serving as Treasurer at Bethesda Lutheran Church and the Living Word Lutheran Church. He died at his home on July 9, 2012, at the age of 67 years. Allen is survived by his wife Audrey Knollenberg of Alexandria, son Brad Knollenberg of Alexandria, daughters Traci (Paul) Klaphake of Sauk Centre, and Angela (fianc� Travis Morrison) Knollenberg of Plymouth, grandchildren Taylor Knollenberg, Sienna Klaphake, and Benjamin Klaphake. Allen is also survived by his brothers Lee Knollenberg of Marlboro, MA, and Charles ?Chuck? (Mary) Knollenberg of Canby as well as his sisters Barbara (Denny) Schettler of Wilmont, MN and Carol Smith of Woodstock, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ruth Busch, sister-in-law, Carole Knollenberg. and brother-in-law, Vaughn Smith. Memorial services were held on Friday, July 13, 2012, at the New Life Christian Church in Alexandria, Minnesota, with Rev. A.J. Kluver officiating. David Knollenberg, Bryce Petersen, Dave Lundy, Greg Cuomo, Arvid Lotthammer, Ron Christensen, Dave Christopher, Jim Thompson, Wayne Peterson and Rev. Pete Martinson served as Honorary Pallbearers. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Military Honors were provided by the American Legion Post #87, the VFW Post #936, and the Minnesota National Guard. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
