Amanda Cowan

Amanda Evelyn Cowan was born on March 11, 1990 in Alexandria, MN to Andrea Cowan and Kelly Bennett. She was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Miltona. In her youth, Amanda participated in 4-H, Girl Scouts, and church activities. She attended New Testament School in her sophomore and junior years and graduated from Jefferson High School in 2008. Amanda enjoyed helping her grandmother at Senior Dining in Parkers Prairie. She also worked at the Leaf Valley Mercantile for a few years. Amanda was blessed with two children, Elizabeth ?Izzy? Randall on March 28, 2010 and Charles ?Bubba? Randall on September 3, 2011. Her children were her pride and joy. Amanda enjoyed bowling, board and video games, playing cards, camping and being on the lake going for a pontoon ride or swimming. Most of all she loved being with her children and family. Amanda died unexpectedly from the result of a car crash on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Lakewood Health Systems Hospital in Staples at the age of 23. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth and Charlie; mother, Andrea Cowan of Miltona, father, Kelly Bennett of Crystal; brothers, Justin Mattocks and Calin Mattocks; sister, Brittany Mattocks; grandmother, Ruth Cowan of Miltona; aunts and uncles, LuAnn (Michael) Marotte, Ray (Monica) Cowan, Richard Cowan (Amanda?s Godfather), Corrine (Casey) Harper (Amanda?s Godmother), Carla (Steve) Meinert, Laura (Joel) Hanson, Stanley Jr. (Becki) Cowan; cousins, Allissa Cowan, Amber Marotte, Paul Marotte, Julie Cowan, Mike Cowan, Pete Meinert, Brent Meinert, Djon Tyson, Charlise Tyson, Simone Marotte, and Emma Cowan. Amanda is preceded in death by her grandfather, Stan Cowan Sr.; paternal great-grandparents, Ray and Gladys Cowan; and maternal great-grandparents, Alfred and Clara Peterson; aunt, Linda Cowan; and cousin, Charles Tyson. A funeral service was held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Miltona with Reverend William Stockman and Reverend Noel Herr officiating. Music was provided by soloist Robert Murkey and organist, Deb Joachim. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Church Cemetery in Miltona. Casket bearers were Richard Cowan, Mike Cowan, Brent Meinert, Pete Meinert, Paul Marotte, Stanley Cowan and Ray Cowan. Honorary casket bearers were Amanda?s siblings, Justin Mattocks, Calin Mattocks, and Brittany Mattocks. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home
