Amelia Robinson

Amelia Catharine Miller was born October 13, 1916 in Rosenheim, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Alexander and Agatha Miller. Mollie grew up and was schooled in Canada. In the 1930?s she immigrated to the United States. Mollie was baptized into the catholic faith at St. Matthews Church in West St. Paul, MN in 1938. On May 6, 1939 Mollie was united in marriage to Robert John Robinson, also at St. Matthews Church. The couple made their home in South St. Paul where they were blessed with two children, Robert and Kathy. In the mid 1950?s Mollie and Robert moved to the Alexandria, MN area. They bought Cottage Grove Resort on Lake Andrew, which they owned and operated for seventeen years. The couple retired after selling the resort in the early1970?s and bought a home on Lake Andrew. Mollie enjoyed traveling in the United States and Canada. Her and Robert spent many winters in McAllen, TX. Mollie also enjoyed cooking; she was especially good at cooking ducks with her homemade dressing. She also enjoyed visiting and served as a volunteer in the coffee shop at the Knute Nelson Home for many years. Mollie was a faithful and longtime member of St. Mary?s Church in Alexandria. On Thursday, September 1, 2011 Mollie died at the age of ninety-four years. Her husband, Robert Robinson and all of her siblings preceded her in death. Mollie is survived by her son Robert Robinson and wife, Patty, of Grand Marais, MN; daughter, Kathy Anderson and husband, Tom, of Bullhead City, AZ; grandchildren, Michael Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Bob Robinson, and Carrie Lynn Pontnack (Robinson); and her great grandchildren, Mariah Anderson, RJ Robinson, Travis Anderson, Mary Jane Anderson and Peyton Pontnack. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, September 8, 2011 at St. Mary?s Church in Alexandria. Reverend Father Steve Binsfeld was the celebrant. Interment followed on Friday in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
