Angeline Ursula Nowacki was born on October 18, 1922 in Strandquist, MN, the daughter of Michael and Isabella (Smolkowski) Przekwas. Growing up on a farm in northern Minnesota, Angeline acquired a strong work ethic and a great love of family. She was given great responsibility in caring for her younger siblings, attending to family meals and caring for numerous farm duties. She had a love of music to include singing, dancing and the self-taught talent of playing the accordion and piano. As a young woman she was able to leave the farm and attend high school in Crookston, Minnesota and then moved to live with her older sister Sophie in Warren, MN. It was during this period of her life when she caught the attention of many upstanding gentlemen, but only one fortunate enough to call her his wife. Angeline was married to Norbert Nowacki in the fall of 1943 on October 18th, her 21st birthday, in the Assumption Catholic Church in Florian, MN. Together they raised 8 children: Charles, Howard, Allen, Sheldon, Wayne, Earl, Elain, and Timothy. As a young mother with three small boys, Angeline journeyed from Minnesota to reunite with Norbert, who had acquired work in Anchorage, Alaska where they resided for 2 years. They then settled in Stephen, MN where she worked periodically at the family café adjacent to the service station owned by Norbert and his brother Raymond. As an excellent homemaker and loving mother she nurtured her family and home with loving care.
Angeline and Norbert moved to Colorado with their two youngest children in 1974. After about 7 years they moved to Alexandria, MN and purchased their home by Lake Le Homme Dieu. Norbert passed away in 1993. Angeline continued to live in her home and enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren throughout the years, there. They would come to enjoy her delicious meals, have fun at the lake, and to play a good card game that she would usually win! Visitors were always welcomed with warmth and heartfelt preparation! She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
