Anita Kay McMullen

Anita Kay McMullen 6-17-56 to 3-12-2023

Anita Kay McMullen, 66, of Alexandria, MN was born in Ortonville, MN on June 17, 1956 and died peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023, after a long struggle with several health related issues.  Anita attended a one room country school in rural Alexandria for 2 years becoming one of the last students to do so. Anita graduated from Jefferson High School, class of 1974. She attended Bemidji State College and later graduated from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota.

Anita enjoyed reading, sports, her pets and tolerating her 6 brothers.  Anita’s primary employment was as a Legal Secretary, spending many years working at the IDS building in downtown Minneapolis.  On October 16, 1988 Anita married the love of her life Garry McMullen.  Together they enjoyed and were big fans of Auto racing and traveled the country following their favorites.  Anita suffered a great loss when Garry died in November 2002. 

Anita is survived by her father Edward Novotny; Gary Novotny, brother; Claire (Marlene) Novotny, brother; Sheila Novotny, sister-in-law, Bryon (Jill) Novotny, brother; long-time partner Don LaRivieres; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding Anita in death are: Mary Novotny, mother; Ryan Novotny, brother; Edward (Eddie) Novotny Jr., brother; Mark Novotny, brother; Nancy (Gary) Novotny, sister-in-law; Garry McMullen, husband; and Lisa Novotny, niece.
