Anne was born on November 1, 1908, in Humpolec, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of John & Marie (Marsik) Keller. She moved to the United States at the age of two. She attended District #18 in Pope County through the 8th grade. Anne was united in marriage to John Raymond Hiebel on June 17, 1929 at St. Bartholomew?s Catholic Church in Villard. The couple farmed near Lake Andrew where they raised their three children. In the early 1970?s the couple sold their farm but kept one acre of land where John built a home for them. In the early 1980?s the Hiebels moved to Alexandria. Mrs. Hiebel was a very active lady ? she was a member of the Oak Grove School Board, Leader of 4H, one of the first members of the Lake Mary Birthday Club that started in the early 1940?s and is still in existence. She was an active volunteer at the Alexandria Sr. Citizens Center for over thirty years. Anne was the oldest member and longest active member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Anne loved to play the accordion and harmonica. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends such as Whist and 500. She loved to bake and will always be remembered as the ?Kolache Grandma?. John died in June of 2003 ? one week short of their 73rd Wedding Anniversary. She is the last survivor of ten children. Mrs. Hiebel died on Sunday, January 18, 2009. She is survived by her three children: Donald & wife, Lorraine of Bloomington, Kenneth of Plymouth, Anne Marie Tatum & husband, Paul of Oak Point, TX; seven grandchildren: Catherine Mazanec, Paul Hiebel, Caroline Taylor, Michael Hiebel, Bridget Johnson Banks, Monica Lucibello, JoAnn Tyler and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents, three brothers and six sisters. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Rev. Steve Binsfeld officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Hiebel, Michael Hiebel, Richard Mazanec, Kevin Mazanec, Drey Lucibello, Eric Tyler.
