Anthony (Tony) Brekken was born December 14, 1973 to Francis (Frank) and Wanda Brekken in Minot, ND and passed away October 15, 2022 in Coon Rapids, MN.
Tony spent his first 11 years in Minneapolis, MN moving to the Alexandria, MN area in 1984. He spent the majority of his life in Alexandria attending Jefferson Sr. High School and a lot of time at the Alex Youth Center. This is where he developed his passion for music. He loved singing Karaoke and was a DJ at various venues in the Alex area.
Tony was very proud of his 15 years of sobriety and working as a counselor for different rehab facilities in Minneapolis. He loved helping others on their road to recovery. His wise words and compassion are what people remember him by.
He also loved to fish and all of the MN Sports Teams. Forever a Vikings fan he claimed to have bled purple! His greatest passion in life was his son, Devin, and he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Tony is survived by his son Devin Cimbura, dad and stepmother, Frank and Connie Brekken, mother, Wanda Kelly, siblings, Chris (Jeremy) LaDouceur, Robert (Nikki) Brekken, Allyson (Rolland) Bros, Amanda (Mike) Kelly, step-siblings Nikki Hanna, Bill Thomas, Mike Ott, Mindy Krone, Amy Knott and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held in the basement of the Alexandria Eagles Club on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022 from 4 to 6 pm. Please wear your Vikings Purple and if you are a musician, we would love to fill this celebration with song/music as we all know Tony would love that.
