Arlene Bang

December 11, 1923 — October 20, 2018

Alexandria, MN

Arlene Gertrude Bang, the daughter of John and Clara (Antolick) Ahrndt, was born on December 11, 1923 in Benson, MN.  Arlene graduated from Benson High School in the class of 1941. She married Maurice Bang on April 12, 1943 in Benson, MN and four children were born to this union, Beverly, Bonnie, Michael, and Scott. Together they raised their family on the Bang family farm near Maynard, MN.  Arlene worked tirelessly, with chores and farming, as well as caring for the children, making sure everyone had great food to eat. When her children became older she worked outside of the home as well for the Willmar Cookie Company, Jennie-O, Trailways Restaurant and Lens Supper Club.

In 1969, Arlene and Maurice sold the family farm and purchased a new home in Montevideo, MN.  They soon bought a motor home and traveled to Texas for the winters. They also made trips out West.  In 1983, they moved to Alexandria to be closer to their daughter, Bonnie, and belonged to First Lutheran Church in Alexandria.

Arlene was a loving and devoted wife, an awesome mother and grandmother who liked to keep her home in a meticulous manner.  She was always on the go and always helping people. She loved to play BINGO, venture to local casinos, and was an avid fan, and loved to watch the Minnesota Twins. She loved to bake for her family, and always had baking on hand for anyone who happened to stop by for coffee. She was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

Arlene G. Bang died on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Edgewood in Alexandria at the age of 94 years old.  She is survived by her children, Beverly (Jim) Roseen of Victoria, Bonnie Turner and friend Steve Schjei of Nelson, Rev. Michael (Vicki) Bang of Sioux Falls, SD, and Scott (Jeanette) Bang of Burnsville; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and brother, and Roger (Irene) Ahrndt of Benson.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Maurice Bang, sister Lavina Walstrom and a niece Janel Ahrndt.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 1 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Michael Bang officiating.  Music will be provided by Arlene’s granddaughters, Amy Flanders and Angie Honan. Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery.
