Arlene Gladys (Bordalen) Moebeck was born on May 5, 1923 in Ulen, Minnesota to Olaus and Grace (Nelson) Bordalen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen, MN. Arlene graduated from Ulen High School Arlene was united in marriage to George Moebeck on October 7, 1943 in Lewes, DE while George was in the service. After his discharge they returned to Minnesota, where they were blessed with three children, Carolyn, Valerie and Mark. Arlene was a homemaker while raising the children. The family lived in Detroit Lakes and later in Canby, where Arlene worked as a home nurses aid. She also worked at REM as a houseparent for residents with learning disabilities. The couple retired and moved in 1993 to Alexandria. While living in Alexandria Arlene stayed busy helping with Elder Network, Volunteering at the Hospital and being a member in the Sons of Norway and staying very active with their church. She also enjoyed singing in the choir, when they lived in Detroit Lakes. Arlene enjoyed knitting, needlework, making afghans, walking, playing cards especially Hand and Foot. She loved to take walks, listen to music and traveling to Norway, a once in a lifetime trip. Most of all she loved caring for others, visiting with friends and cultivating new friendships. Arlene died on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Edgewood Vista in Alexandria at the age of 88. She is survived by daughters, Carolyn (Norman) Lichtsinn of Moorhead and Valerie (William) Yancey of St. Louis, MO; son, Mark (Judy) Moebeck of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law, of Morris Henningsgaard of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Anna Lundstrom of Barnesville, MN; six grandchildren, Michael (Lynn) Larson, Jeffrey (Debbie) Larson, James (Tala) Yancey, Joshua (Heather) Yancey, Jean (Rob) Lopez-Yancey and Isaac (Abby) Yancey; two step-grandchildren, Ron Lichtsinn and Carol Henry; eight great-grandchildren, Drew Larson, Samantha Larson, Zachary Larson, Grace Yancey, Patrick Yancey, Joseph Yancey, Isley Lopez-Yancey, Eva Lopez-Yancey, Aubrey Yancey and Isaac Yancey; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. A memorial service was held on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Mark Astrup officiating. Music was provided by soloist, Judy Moebeck and organist, Sandy Buckner. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Ulen, MN. Honorary urn bearers were Arlene?s grandchildren, Michael Larson, Jeffrey Larson, James Yancey, Joshua Yancey, Jean Lopez-Yancey, and Isaac Yancey.
