Arlene Delores (Amundson) Oberg was born on June 4, 1930, in Hoffman, Minnesota to John and Mabel Amundson. She graduated from Hoffman High School.
Arlene was united in marriage to Harry Oberg on June 26, 1954, at Lands Lutheran Church in Hoffman. The couple was blessed with four children; Gary, Peggy, June and Janice. Arlene traveled with Harry in a trailer home from Minnesota to Iowa for a couple of years while he worked on grain bins. They farmed near Hoffman before moving to La Mesa, CA to live near Harry’s brother. The family later moved to Alexandria where Arlene started working as a nurse’s aide. She was employed at Bethany Home for many years, St. Lukes Home, and Knute Nelson before she retired. Arlene was a long-standing member of the VFW Auxiliary as well as a KOPS recognized member of the TOPS Club for countless years.
Arlene enjoyed her fresh garden flowers, canning, cooking, playing the organ, attending church, spending time with her girlfriends and her family. She enjoyed dressing up for Halloween to hand out candy to the neighborhood kids that came by. She made afghans for all her grandchildren to cherish. Arlene and Harry loved traveling with the family by car to multiple destinations; Florida, California, Arizona and The Ozarks, to name a few. One of her most favorite past times was flea marketing with Harry over the course of multiple years, being outdoors enjoying the sunshine while meeting people from all over the country.
Arlene passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 88. She is survived by her husband, Harry of Alexandria; son, Gary Oberg of Alexandria; daughters, Peggy Oberg of Alexandria, June (Rory) Roers of Alexandria, and Janice (Gaylord) Krohnfeldt of Alexandria/Mesa, AZ; nine grandchildren, Shane, Scott, Angela, Melissa, Naomi, Casey, Quincy, Jennifer and Meagan; and sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Herb) Weiss of Morris; and many nieces and nephews.
