Arlene Zavadil

Arlene Louise Zavadil was born on October 9, 1945, in Long Prairie, Minnesota, the daughter of Louis and Helena (Irsfeld) Strack.  She grew up in Long Prairie and graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1963.

On October 17, 1966, Arlene was united in marriage to Warren “Harvey” Zavadil at St. Mary’s of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie.  After their marriage the couple moved to Alexandria where they raised their three children: Scott, Jeff, Kristie.  During this time the couple ran the Hi Way Market and Arlene worked at 3M as an Allocator from April of 1968 until July of 2002 when she lost the love of her life and wanted to just spend time with her grandkids and family.

Arlene enjoyed crafts, fishing, camping, gardening, computer games, decorating for the holidays and road trips.  Her greatest love was her grandchildren.  She loved helping people and just taking time to chat with friends.

Arlene died on Monday, February 12, 2018 at her home.  She is survived by her children: Scott & wife, Jennifer of Alexandria, Jeff & wife, Pam of Shorewood, Kristie & husband, Nate Jost of Alexandria; nine grandchildren: Kellie, Alex, Max, Ava, Zoe, Dan, Michelle, Ashley and Maddy.

She is preceded in death by husband, Warren in 2002; her parents: Louis & Helena; infant sister, Ellen.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM with a Parish Prayer Service at 5:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home and visitation will continue on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at St. Mary’s.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, 12:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria.  Burial will be at Kinkead Cemetery.
