Arni Carlson

Arnice "Arni" Renee was born on March 9, 1949, at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota the daughter of Elwood and Edith (Miller) Erlandson. She was baptized and confirmed at Chisago Lakes Lutheran Church in Center City, MN. She graduated ChiHi in 1967 in Lindstrom, Minnesota.
Arni continued her education at Ancker School of Nursing and graduated in 1970. She worked at Ramsey for one year in St. Paul. While going to nursing school she met Jeff Carlson and knew right away he was the one. Arnice and Jeff were married on June 19, 1971 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple moved to Kansas where Arni worked at the Lincoln County Hospital for two years.
In 1973, Jeff and Arni moved to Alexandria where she started in the Cardiac Care Unit at Douglas County Hospital. A short time later she became Nursing Supervisor and continued in that role for thirty eight years when she retired from nursing. Arni was a big part of instilling the importance of quality care at Douglas County Hospital.
Throughout the years Arni and Jeff enjoyed traveling to see the foreign exchange students who became their adopted family.
Arni died on Friday, August 12, 2016. She is survived by her husband, Jeff; Children: Marco Skeirat Berlin, Germany, Dr. Alexander Burkert of Luzern, Switzerland, Gabriella Nylander of Stockholm, Sweden; brother, Orris Erlandson of Lindstrom; sisters: Corinne Dreckman of Lindstrom, LaRae Anderson of Taylor Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood & Edith.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016, 3:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
