Arnold Johnson

Arnold Arvid Johnson was born on June 8, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN to John and Florence (Trulsen) Johnson. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. Arnold joined the military where he served four years as an aeronautical engineer in the Army. He went to work for the city of Seattle and worked as a mechanic, and also owned and operated an auto parts store. In 1985, Arnold moved to Alexandria, MN. Arnold was united in marriage to Arlis (Riedel) Bremmer on October 15, 1989 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Arnold worked a variety of local jobs from working at auto parts stores to driving railroad workers and veterans to appointments. He retired in 1999. Arnold was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where he helped start the dart ball league. Arnold enjoyed fixing cars and selling them, working on small engines and tinkering in the garage. He also enjoyed fishing, going to garage sales, and spending time with friends and family. Arnold died on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at his home in Alexandria at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife, Arlis; son, Richard (Judy) of Sedro Wooley, WA; daughters, Renee (Dan) Fischer of Yakima, WA and Kelly Kruml of Gram, WA; step-sons, Ryan (Connie) Bremmer of Granite Falls and Howard (Mary) Bremmer of Buffalo; four grandchildren and seven step-grandchilren. Arnold is preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence; and sister, Norma Brooks. A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Wade Meyer officiating. Music was provided by organist, Sue Nelson and soloist, Bruce Swenson. Interment was held in the Parkers Prairie Cemetery in Parkers Prairie. Casket bearers were Daniel Bremmer & Anna Bremmer, Robert Bremmer, Mark Bremmer, John Bremmer, Jill Bremmer, Michael Lynner & Katherine Lynner, and Jeremy Risk & Betsy Risk. Honorary casket bearers were Katie Kruml, Cody Kruml, Hannah Fischer, and Zachary Fischer. Military Honors were provided by Alexandria American Legion Post 87 and VFW Post 936. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
