Arthur Reed

Arthur was born on November 23, 1923, in Donnelly, Minnesota the son of Earl and Lily (Loveland) Reed. He attended country school through the 8th grade and then stayed at home to help his family on the farm. On February 16, 1951, Arthur was united in marriage to Eldonna Ahrendt in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple resided in Iowa for a short time and during this time Art did upholstery. The Reed family then moved to Minnesota where they bought a dairy farm in Clarissa. Art enjoyed farming but in the early 1980?s decided it was time to retire. The couple moved to the Alexandria area where they lived on Mill Lake and later moved to town. Art loved watching sports, traveling with Donna in their retirement years and hunting pheasants, grouse and ducks. He also looked forward to his annual summer fishing trips with his brother-in-laws. Mr. Reed died on Monday, May 11, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Billy of Alexandria; daughter, Connie & husband, Jerry of Fort Wayne, IN; grandson, Jonathan of Fort Wayne, IN; brother, Ray of Staples, MN; sister, Lillian & husband, Austin of Avery, WI; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Leonard & Fredrick; sister, Grace Werk. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 15, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Rev. Wade Meyer officiating. Pallbearers were Jonathan Reed, Roger Werk, David Werk, Larry Werk, Wayne Werk, John Reed. Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Reed, Duane Reed, Randy Reed. Burial was at the Geneva Cemetery in Alexandria. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
