Arthur Melton Svare was born on June 18, 1925 in Goodridge, MN to Melvin and Betsy (Bye) Svare. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.
Arthur was enlisted in the United States Army for two years starting in 1944 and was a part of the 34th Infantry Regiment. He was Honorably Discharged on November 22, 1946.
Art was united in marriage to June Richard on November 16, 1947. To this union two daughters were born: Susan & Kim. The family lived in Fergus Falls for a number of years where Art was an Assistant Manager at Mills Fleet Farm. After several years of working in Fergus Falls he was promoted to Manager of the Alexandria Fleet Farm.
He was a member of the Eagles and VFW. He enjoyed camping, traveling with the RV and spending time with family.
Arthur died on October 5, 2014 and is survived by his daughters, Susan (Kurt) Kester of Luvurne, MN, Kim (Gene) Berglund of Alexandria, MN; Grandchildren, Casey Kester, Kara (Chris) Scherbring, Sarah (Matt) Evenson, Kirsten (Tom Highdale) Berglund; Great Grandchildren, Luke and Gavin Kester, Ian and Isaac Scherbring, and Moriah, Noah, and Annah Evenson; Siblings, Margaret Richter, Hubert Svare, Joyce (Ernie) Kubitz, Lillian (Myron) Holen, and Curtis (Kay) Svare.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June Svare; Parents, Melvin and Betsy Svare; Parents-in-laws, Sister, Darlene Hanson; Brothers-in-law Robert Richards and Erv Larson and Sister-in-law Donna Larson.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Sarah Evenson officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria, MN. Casket bearers were Matt Evenson, Tom Highdale, Casey Kester, Chris Scherbring, Chuck Taylor and Terry Lanigan. Honorary Casket Bearers were Arthur’s Grandaughters and Great Grandchildren.
