Aurelia Anna Emma Herrmann was born on July 4, 1923, one of six children to Albert and Louisa (Ische) Herrmann. Aurelia attended country school in Norwood, Minnesota. After school she continued to help her family on their farm. On July 27, 1940, Aurelia was united in marriage to Robert Schimmelpfennig at the United Church of Christ in Norwood. To this union three children were born, Norman, Curtis and Karen. The family lived in various areas of the state where they farmed, Aurelia helped with the farm work and brought food out to her family when they worked in the field. They retired from farming and in 1981 Aurelia started working for the Alexandria Senior Center, cooking for meals on wheels.
When Aurelia was not busy farming or raising her family, she loved to watch the Minnesota Twins, she decided after a few lost games that maybe they should stop watching the seventh inning due to superstition. She also enjoyed watching Polka time and loved to visit with family and friends.
