Avanelle ?Evy? Anderson was born on May 13, 1921, in Detroit Lakes Minnesota the daughter of Edward and Sophie (Rogers) Bisson. She attended school in Callaway, Minnesota through the 8th grade. Evy married Duane Anderson and the family farmed in the Detroit Lakes area where she was very active in helping with the chores. She would also do laundry for other families and ran the mobile home park that they owned. In her early forties she became ill and moved to Alexandria to live with her parents. Evy will be remembered as a very independent, determined woman who was spunky and had a good sense of humor. She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing word searches and loved old time music. Avanelle died on Thursday, February 06, 2014. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Kortie of Glenwood and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Vernon; sisters: Veronica Ritz, Cecelia Bisson, Patricia O?Brien. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 8, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Knute Nelson Chapel. Burial was at St. Mary?s Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
