Barbara Nelson

Barbara Jean Nelson, age 67, of Alexandria, MN died on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Barb was born in Alexandria on October 7, 1943 the daughter of Conrad and Georgianna Jern. In 1961, Barb graduated from Alexandria High School. She spent the majority of her life in Alexandria. In 1963, Barb was united in marriage to Dwayne J. Clarke also of Alexandria from which three children were born: Dwayne, Tony and Vicki. Over the years Barb remained involved in bowling, golfing, gardening and card club with close friends. On September 21, l990 Barb was united in marriage to DuWayne Nelson. During her life she was an avid supporter of the Runestone Go-Kart Association as well as Viking Speedway in which she served as secretary for many years. Barb enjoyed spending her time living an active lifestyle with her children in sports and racing. Barb was a very strong and caring person and she will forever be in our hearts. Barb is survived by her husband DuWayne, children: Dewey (Jamie) Clarke of Alexandria with their four children, Tony Clarke (Sarah) Gillette, Wyoming and Vicki Clarke of Moorhead, MN with her two children two sisters: Betty Clarke (Allan) of New York Mills and Linda (Richard) of Alexandria and several nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by her parents Conrad and Georgianna Jern, brothers Clayton and Clinton and sister, Arliss Fadden. Barb?s family would like to thank everyone for their kindness during this time. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 8, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Rev. Marilee Bergerson officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were Clara Olson, Norma Sorenson, Carol Garrelts, Donna Luckemeyer, Sheri Geese, Rosie Hanson, Dorothy Dunn, Linda Anderson and members of the Card Club. Pallbearers were Maicie Penner, David Penner, Mike Anderson, Jason Jern, Heidi Hanson, Mike Schmidt. Burial was a Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.
