Barbara Tingum

Barbara Jo Tingum, the daughter of Norbin and Constance (Theriault) Pritchett, was born on April 17, 1947 in Wadena, MN. When Barbara was young she and her family moved to Park Rapids, MN where she graduated high school in 1965. She then moved to Minneapolis where she met the love of her life Duane Tingum. They were united in marriage and had four children, Stephanie, Shannon, Sean, and Steven. Together they moved to Alexandria in 1978, where Barb raised her children. Barb also worked as the office manager for her husband’s CPA firm.

Barbara enjoyed traveling around the United States with her family, taking shopping trips with her daughters and visiting with her sister Mary. Family was the most important part of Barb’s life and spending time with them was always special to her. She was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Barbara Jo Tingum died after her battle with ovarian cancer for nearly four years on Monday, July 10, 2017, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN, at the age of 70 years old. She is survived by her loving husband, Duane Tingum of Alexandria; children, Stephanie Kelly and partner (Lonnie) of Morris, Shannon (Jim) Graff of Osakis, Sean (Kymm) of Bemidji, and Steven Tingum of Alexandria; eight grandchildren, Megan Madson and fiancé (Jesse), Tanner (Kaylan) Kelly of Fort Drum, NY, Averyonna Graff of Osakis, Jackson Graff of Osakis, Hudson Graff of Osakis, Ella Tingum of Bemidji, Mason Tingum of Bemidji, and A.J. Tingum of Bemidji; and sister Mary (Bob) Safratowich of Park Rapids. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Justin Tingum and a sister Pam Roberts.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Jerry Lanes officiating. Interment was in the Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket Bearers were Lonnie Anderson, Jim Graff, Bob Safratowich, Andy Roberts, Ray Moen, Dean Moen, and Rick Moen. Honorary Casket Bearers were Megan Madson, Tanner Kelly, Averyonna Graff, Jackson Graff, Hudson Graff, Ella Tingum, Mason Tingum, and A.J. Tingum.
