Barbara Ann Ziegelmann was born on April 27, 1934 in Albert Lea, MN to Howard and Esther (Poole) Mitchell. She attended Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and then went to the University of Minnesota where she earned a Bachelor of Art Degree. Barbara was a homemaker taking care of her children and moved to Alexandria in 1971. On February 14, 1975, Barbara was united in marriage to Vernis Ziegelmann Sr. in Sisseton, SD. The family made their home in Alexandria. Barbara was confirmed on November 27, 1977 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley. In 1979 they moved to Newburgh, IN where they lived until 1984 and moved back to Alexandria. Barbara enjoyed cooking, crafts, knitting, and volunteering at church and in the community. She loved to spend time at the family cabin on Sugar Lake and being with family, especially her grandchildren. Barbara died on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN at the age of 75. She is survived by husband, Vernis Ziegelmann Sr. of Alexandria; children, Victoria Dosland and husband, Robert Ramsett of Horace, ND, Michael Dosland and wife, Carolyn of Grafton, WI, Catherine Dosland Mara and husband, John of Burnsville, MN, Vernis Ziegelmann Jr. and wife, Samantha of Duluth, MN, David Ziegelmann and wife, Debbie of Alexandria, Patricia Wilson and husband, Michael of Rockport, IN, Cheryl Ziegelmann and fianc�, Cal Houle of Minneapolis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Rogers of Kinsport, TN and Dorothy Farmer of Fort Mills, SC; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Esther; and daughter, Rita Wilson. A funeral service was held on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Wade Meyer officiating. Music was provided by organist, Elaine Hollis and soloist, Ken Bakalyar. Interment was in the Ebenezer Lutherarn Cemetery in Leaf Valley Township. Casket bearers were Barbara?s grandchildren, Justin Ziegelmann, Adam Ziegelmann, Mark Ziegelmann, Christopher Hale, Leigh Hale, Jesse Mara, Catherine Croft, and Elizabeth Kleinke. Honorary casket bearers were also Barbara?s grandchildren, Aurora Mara, Bryce Dosland, Emma Lee Dosland, Robert Dosland, Vernis Ziegelmann III, Kristel Baltazar and Krishia Baltazar. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home of Alexandria.
