C. Bernice Johnson Bernice (Nelson) Johnson went home to Jesus on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Bernice was born September 28, 1922 in Holmes City Township, Douglas County, Minnesota to Einar & Anna Nelson as the second youngest of 6 children. She was baptized at an Oscar Lake Lutheran Church Ladies Aid meeting and remained an active member for most of her life. Bernice was married to Reuben Johnson on September 22, 1948 at Oscar Lake. The couple lived in Kensington their entire marriage. She had many jobs in the community over the years including driving school bus for special needs children to Donnelly, working in the Kensington bowling alley, working with Rueben (& after his death) as a Pioneer Seed Corn Distributor and as a clerk at the Kensington Post Office. Bernice moved to the Hoffman Good Samaritan Home in 2004 and resided there until her death. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Reuben, 2 infant children, parents Einar & Anna Nelson, brothers - Bernard, George, Edrald, Dalmer and Wallace. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service and internment was held on Saturday, February 14th, 2009 at Oscar Lake Lutheran Church in Farwell, MN. The service was officiated by Reverend Denise Croskey. The organist was Sara Resnink. Pall bearers were Shannon Bartz, Fred Bennett, Greg Bennett, Jason Nelson, Kelly Nelson and Ryan Nelson. Services were followed with a luncheon hosted by the Ladies of Oscar Lake. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
