Bernice Sethney

Bernice Mildred (Olson) Sethney was born on February 2, 1916 in Moe Township, Douglas County, Minnesota to Narve and Signe (Anderson) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at East Moe Lutheran Church. Bernice attended District 88 in LaGrande Township. After her schooling she did some house cleaning. Bernice was united in marriage to Ivan Sethney in Sisston, SD on September 20, 1938. The couple lived in LaGrande Township by Lobster Lake. The couple was blessed with two children, Richard and Irma. Bernice was a homemaker and did some housecleaning. Bernice enjoyed being active and doing quilting with the ladies at church, she was well known for her famous donuts. She liked to play bingo and cards. Most of all she loved being with her family, children, and grandchildren and her friends. She made new friends very easy. Bernice died on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Sharon?s Senior Services in Alexandria at the age of 94. She is survived by her children, Richard (Phyllis) Sethney of Alexandria; Irma (Jerome) Nordquist of Hoffman; grandchildren, Scott Nordquist, Steve (Jenine) Nordquist, Stacey (Audrey) Nordquist; step-grandchildren, Mel Dinius, Deb Larson, and Darryl McCoy; great-grandchildren, Jillian and Page; sister-in-law; LaVone Swanson and Marion Sethney; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Rollen Halvorson officiating. Music was provided by organist, Virginia Hegre. Interment was held in the Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Scott Nordquist, Steve Nordquist, Stacey Nordquist, John Chlian, Roger Chlian, and Norman Salto. Honorary casket bearers were all of Bernice?s many friends.
