Betty Alsleben

OBITUARY Betty Lou Alsleben was born on March 23, 1929, the daughter of George and Barbara (Hopkins) Fanta in Crystal Springs, North Dakota. She graduated from Tappen High School in 1947. She moved to Bismarck, ND where she modeled for Montgomery Ward. Betty married Maynard Alsleben on November 9, 1952 and together they made their home in St. Paul, MN. Betty worked for Miller Hospital for a while and for Unisys for 29 years. Betty and Maynard retired and moved to Alexandria in 1988. While living in Alexandria Betty volunteered her time at the Douglas County Hospital and at Calvary Lutheran Church. Betty L. Alseben died on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Grand Arbor in Alexandria at the age of 83 years old. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Maynard Alsleben of Alexandria; son Corwin (Lucy) Wallner of Branson, Missouri; daughter Kim (Sean) Fechner of Minnetonka, MN; two grandchildren Michele (Michael) Powell of Rochester, MN and Charlena Penn of Kenyon, MN; 3 great grandchildren MacKenzie Davis, Delaney Lewis, and Evan Lewis; brother Donald (Marcia) Fanta of Tappen, ND; sisters Ardella (Gilbert) Voss of Breckenridge, MN and Marilee (Willard) Domier of Henning, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Norlyn Fanta and Kenneth Fanta. A funeral service was held on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church with the Reverend Hans Dahl officiating. Sandy Buckner was the organist. Interment was in the Kinkead Cemetery. Casket Bearers were Michael Powell, Willard Domier, Casey Fanta, Gilbert Voss, Darren Nelson, and Cheryl Doose. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria www.andersonfuneral.net
