Betty Berry

January 31, 1927 — September 18, 2017

Betty Ruth Berry, 90, former long-time resident of Illinois, was called Home on September, 18th, 2017, at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN.

Betty was born January 31, 1927 in Kingsport, TN, but lived most of her life in Geneva, Batavia, and St Charles Illinois until she moved to Minnesota a year ago.

For 64 years Betty was the devoted wife of Wesley C. Berry, Sr., “growing up” and journeying through life together, holding hands through thick and thin in the midst of many adventures, projects, and travels. Growing up during the Depression, Betty’s frugality became a lesson to her family. She was a loving mother, living life through each of her 3 children, gifting them with her constant availability, sprinkled with many pieces of banana cream pie! Her dream to remain independent was fulfilled this past year by moving to Minnesota nearer to family where she enjoyed many Family Suppers, numerous phone calls, her corn field, and beautiful sunsets.

Betty was pre-deceased by: Wesley C. Berry, Sr., a St. Charles barber; and one grand-son, Brenton W. Schue. Survivors include her children: Cheryl Larson (Dave), Alexandria, MN; Wesley C. Berry, Jr. (Sue Peterson), Crossville, TN; and Vicki Kutsenda (Don), Las Vegas, NV. Betty’s grandchildren: Donovan Kutsenda (Tricia), Las Vegas, NV; Ashleigh Vitro (Tony), Vienna, Austria; Heather Fuller (Jason), Pittsburg, PA; Holly Farbo(Tony), Aurora, IL; Scott Berry, Dekalb, IL; Kristin (Jim) Rogers, Nashville, TN; David Larson, Alexandria, MN; Chad Larson (Sherry), Alexandria, MN; and 19 grand and great grand children; sister-in-laws: Marian Berry, Geneva, IL and Pauline Wilkerson, Girard, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Yurs Funeral Home, St. Charles, Illinois. Visitation is at 10 am and Funeral at 11 am with Pastor Steve Shrock officiating. Interment will be at River Hills Cemetery, Batavia, IL immediately following the funeral.

Our family thanks God for blessing us with our loving Mother, grand and great grandmother for over 90 years and all those who supported Betty to remain independent until the end, her new beginning.

Memorial donations may be made to: Unity Masonic Lodge #48, 10 S. 2nd St. , Geneva, IL 60134; Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave, Batavia, IL 60510; Elder Network, 420 12th Ave. E. Suite 7, Alexandria, MN 56308
