Betty J. Heieie age 90 of Alexandria died on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Grand Arbor. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, February 26, 2016 at United Methodist Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Anderson Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

OBITUARY
Betty Jene (Flooding) Heieie was born on January 9, 1926 in St. Paul, MN and grew up in Alexandria where she graduated from high school in 1943. She graduated from Hamlin University in 1947 with a BA in Business Education and music. She had a long teaching career. In 1950 she married Belvin Heieie from Brooten, MN. They lived in Ortonville, Hopkins and then Cloquet for 30 years. In 1989, they retired to their home at Lake Le Homme Dieu in Alexandria. A few years after Belvin’s death, she moved to Grand Arbor and was one of its first residents.
Music always played a big part of Betty Jene’s life. She took piano and violin lessons at an early age, sang in the church choir and also played hand bells. She belonged to a book club, bridge club, PEO, Retired Educators, 55 Circle, bible study groups and other church groups such as the Adult Fellowship. Betty Jene cherished her very many friends and all the meals that they shared!
Betty Jene made many trips to Arizona and especially enjoyed spending Christmas with her family.
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Betty Jene Heieie died Sunday, February 21st, 2016 at Grand Arbor in Alexandria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A. Henry and Elizabeth Flooding, husband Belvin Heieie, daughter Ann (Heieie) Clasen, brother Charles Flooding and his wife Mildred. She is survived by her son John (Cathy) of Casa Grande, AZ, two grandchildren, Krystal (Eddie) Ramos and Dana Heieie, of Maricopa, AZ, and five great grandchildren ranging in ages from 9 months to 17yrs old. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Heieie and brother-in-law Ralph Heieie and many nieces and nephews including Barb (Bob Sieving) Flooding who tirelessly gave her support to Betty Jene’s needs.
