Betty Steinbring

Betty Gleone Steinbring was born on May 23, 1922 in Hancock, MN the daughter of Lawrence and Myrtle (Fortune) Blackmun. Betty graduated from high school in Hancock and then continued her education at the Moorhead Teachers College. Betty taught in Cyrus, MN for a few of years before marrying the love of her life Robert Steinbring on July 2, 1948 in Hancock, MN. They lived in Hancock and raised two sons, Robb and Jon. In 1965 they moved to Alexandria where they relocated their car dealership Steinbring Chevrolet and Cadillac.

Family was very important to Betty. She loved spending time visiting with her sons and her grandchildren. Betty's calm and comforting demeanor assured her family she would always make them feel better when they are having a bad day. Betty was a great cook, never letting anyone go home hungry. She made the best onion rings, cream puffs, popcorn balls, river cookies, and watermelon pickles. One of Betty's hobbies was her flower gardens. She spent countless hours tending to her beautiful gardens. Another hobby was traveling with Bob. Together they traveled around the world to places like South America, Mexico, Europe, and Russia. She enjoyed her summers on Lake Minnewaska and later on Lake Le Homme Dieu. In the winters they enjoyed spending their time in Scottsdale, AZ. Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Betty G. Steinbring died on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at her home at Diamond Willow under the care of Hospice of Douglas County with her family by her side at the age of 94 years old. She is survived by her sons Robb Steinbring of Alexandria and friend Wendy Jessop of Wadena, and Jon and his wife Sheryle Steinbring of Alexandria, four grandchildren; Brooke Michelle Steinbring of Alexandria, Blake Robert Steinbring of Alexandria, Chase Robert Steinbring of Alexandria and Sydney Lauren Steinbring of Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Steinbring, parents, and nephew Gary Nelson.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 1PM at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be from 4:30PM to 6:30PM on Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in the Kinkead Cemetery. Casket Bearers are Betty's family members.
