Betty Ellen Sten was born July 6, 1962 in Virginia, MN, the daughter of Dennis and Esther (Adams) Sten. She was raised and attended school in Biwabik, MN.
While attending the Minneapolis Aquatennial Betty met David Vilendrer. The couple was united in marriage on June 4, 1983 in Biwabik. They made their home in Biwabik and later moved to Hibbing. In the summer of 1989 Betty and David moved to Alexandria, MN where they raised their family. They were blessed with two sons, Mike and Chris.
Betty worked for Clearwater Suites for about ten years as a cook. She later worked for Super 8.
Betty loved playing video games with David. She was also a Vikings fan. Betty enjoyed homemaking and creating a comfortable home for her family. David, her boys and her grandchildren were everything to her. Family life was very important to her.
On Saturday, December 5, 2020, five years after suffering a brain aneurysm, Betty died peacefully at the age of fifty-eight years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ester Sten; grandma, Mayme Sten; and an infant brother. Betty is survived by her loving husband, David Vilendrer of Alexandria: sons Michael Vilendrer and fiancé, Klarissa Eisenbraun, of Alexandria and Chris Vilendrer and wife, Julie, of Maple Grove, MN; father, Dennis Sten; brother, Duane Sten; sisters, Donna Sten and Patty Sten; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM, Monday, December 14, 2020 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory.
