Bev Thaves, 66, of Alexandria, MN died at St. Cloud Hospital on Saturday, April 25th, 2015 after an unexpected illness.
Beverly Lorraine (Erp) Thaves was born on July 15th, 1948 in Dawson, MN to Warren & Caroline (Streich) Erp. She was baptized & confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Bev grew up enjoying life on the farm. She graduated from Boyd High School in 1966. Bev held various jobs after high school including waitressing & working at 3M, before joining the Army where she became an x-ray technician. She enjoyed the traveling aspect of the U.S. Army, being stationed in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. In 1977, Bev met James (Jim) Thaves & they married January 1978. To this union, Nicole (Nici) Marie was born June 5th, 1979. The family resided in Montevideo & Bev enjoyed spending time at their cabins on Stowe Lake near Evansville, MN, and later, Smith Lake near Nelson which became her permanent home. Bev went back to school after Jim passed away in 1998; she graduated with honors from Alexandria Technical College, receiving an Accounting Degree. In 2009, due to health reasons, Bev relocated to Windmill Ponds in Alexandria. Most recently, she was at Peaceful Bliss Alexandria Assisted Living.
Bev enjoyed flower & vegetable gardening, birdwatching, & the beauty of wildlife. She had a special love for pets, especially her furry grandkids “Briar” & “Clyde” that are Nici’s dog & cat. Bev’s computer was a favorite pass time. She loved fishing, wherever & whomever it may be with!
Bev will be remembered for being kindhearted & compassionate to others, always sharing a genuine smile!
Bev is survived by her daughter Nici Thaves of Evansville, MN & furry grandkids Briar & Clyde. Siblings: Carol (Rodney) Davis of Starbuck, MN; Kenneth (Carol) Erp of Dawson, MN; David (Paulette) Erp of Hazel Run, MN; Susan (George) Greseth of Jupiter, FL; Rodney (Barb) Erp of Midlothian, TX; Roland (Deniese) Erp of Morris, MN, & sister-in-law Dorothy Happel of Minneapolis, MN. Step-daughters Betsy Abel of Maynard, MN & Dawn Sterbuck of Coon Rapids, MN, and Bev’s many nieces & nephews, including her Godchildren Krisi Lea Davis & Stephanie (Erp) Swenson.
Bev is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents Warren & Caroline; brother-in-law John Happel.
