Eldred ?Bill? William Lund was born on April 26, 1931, in Brandon Township, the son of William and Clara (Van Sickle) Lund. He attended country school and Brandon High School. After school he continued working on the family farm until 1955 when he was drafted in the United States Army. After serving his country Eldred returned home and was united in marriage to Marlene Navratil on September 27, 1958, in Alexandria. To this union six children were born: Kathy, Kristi, Larry, Nancy, Naomi and Marcy. In 1966, the family moved to a farm south of Brandon where they farmed until 1993. At this time their son, Larry, moved to the family farm where Bill continued farming with his son. As a family they enjoyed their camping trips and the simple things in life. Bill enjoyed farming and living close to the land. Side by side, Bill and Marlene gardened and shared the abundancy with others. They also enjoyed their trips together. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. Their love for each other and Marlene?s dedication to his care allowed Bill to die peacefully at home on Thursday, April 29, 2010. He is survived by his wife, of 51 years, Marlene; six children: Kathy & Paul Boeddeker of Garfield, Kristi & Kerry Froemming of Garfield, Larry & Mary Kay of Brandon, Nancy & Dennis Shores of Evansville, Naomi & Al Peterson of Alexandria, Marcy & Wade Nibbe of Leaf Valley; twenty four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, two brothers: Dennis & Colleen of Brandon and Reece & Mary of Evansville. He was preceded in death by one infant son, two infant grandchildren and one granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Peterson, his parents William & Clara Lund, sister, Rosemary Klukken. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 3, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon with Rev. Dennis Preston officiating. Musical selections were by Amy Engel and Kelly Smith. Honorary Pallbearers were all Bill?s grandchildren. Pallbearers were his grandsons Logan Nibbe, Zach Peterson, Lance Shores, William Lund, Trent Froemming, Craig Boeddeker. Burial was at Chippewa Cemetery in Brandon.
