Blanche O. Wechsler age 91 of Alexandria died on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Bethany Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
OBITUARY
Blanche Odonna (Mueller) Wechsler was born December 29, 1924 in Watertown, MN; the daughter of George and Bertha (Nimz) Mueller. She was baptized February 8, 1925 at her parents’ home. She graduated from Watertown, MN High School in 1942.
On September 30, 1944, Blanche was united in marriage to Kenneth Edwin Wechsler. They made their home in Watertown, MN and began the process of raising four children. After the family moved from Minnesota to Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois; Ken and Blanche finally retired to Alexandria. Blanche was primarily a mother and homemaker. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church; a member of the choir, the bell choir, Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Blanche and Ken enjoyed many years in the company of their “500” card club.
Blanche went to her Lord peacefully on January 21, 2016, at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her children, Wanda (Bill) Schultz of Alexandria, James Wechsler of Austin, TX, Robert (Sherry) Wechsler of Atkinson, IL and John (Regina) Wechsler of Moreno Valley, CA; grandchildren, TJ (Dawn) Schultz of Alexandria, Stephanie (Wechsler) Johnson of St. Paul, MN Jennifer Wechsler of Lakeland, FL, James and Juliene Wechsler of Moreno Valley, CA; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Evan Schultz of Alexandria, Harper Johnson of St. Paul, MN, Chloe Vazquez of Lakeland, FL and great-great-grandson, Liam Schultz of Alexandria, MN; sister, Marian Rasmussen of Plymouth, MN; and sister-in-law, Shirley Wechsler of Neenah, WI and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; grandson, Christopher Wechsler; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Patti Mueller; brothers-in-law, Raymond Rasmussen and Donald Wechsler.
A funeral service was held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverends David Hinz and Geoff Gronewold officiating. Music was provided by Mertice Brueske and Dan Olson. Interment was at Geneva Cemetery in Alexandria.
