Brad Lantz, age 88, of Alexandria, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Saturday, September 12, 2015 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Interment will follow in the Geneva Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and also one hour prior to the service art church.
OBITUARY
Bradford Baity Lantz, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Tuesday morning, September 8, 2015 at the age of 88.
Brad was born August 26, 1927 to Andrew and Grace (Baity) Lantz in Fargo, North Dakota. He spent his youth in Casselton and Mayville, ND. Upon graduation from Mayville High School in 1945, he entered the Navy, serving as a hospital sentry in Hawaii. He returned home in 1946 and married Dolores Kleveland. He attended Mayville State Teachers College, earning a degree in social studies and English education. Brad taught for 41 years in Minnesota, North Dakota, California and the last 28 years in Alexandria.
Brad lived a simple life with devotion to his wife, his family, and his faith. An accomplished public speaker, Brad narrated Alexandria High school Christmas programs and was the public address announcer for high school basketball and football for many years. Brad enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching Minnesota sports with his wife, and collecting anecdotes to share with his family and friends.
Brad is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dolores (Kleveland) Lantz, son, Jim (Jane) Lantz of Neenah, WI; daughters, Barbara (Mike) Nowicki of Forest Lake, MN, Sheila Novotny, Cambridge, MN; sister, Alice (Harlan) Hanson of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ted) Beams, Nicole (friend, Mike Hronski) Novotny, Crystal (Jerry) Inderlee,
Sara Lantz, Maggie (Adam) Zurko, Kathryn (Jeff) Williams, Andrew Lantz, Kayla (Andrew) Kappel, and Christina (Andrew) Barnes; great grandchildren, Corbin, Madison and Tori Beam, Shawn and Alyssa Kamann, Dakota Inderlee, Abigail and Evan Gerst, Nicholas and Lillian Zurko. Brad was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Andrew; sister, Lorna (Gordon) Saewert, Marilyn (Robert) Clark, and son in law, Wayne Novotny, and granddaughter, Lisa Novotny.
A celebration of life service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN, on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM. A visitation will be held on Friday September 11, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and also one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
