Brenda Bitzan, age 51, of St. Paul, formerly of Alexandria, died Monday, June 1, 2015. A service will be held 3:30 PM Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
OBITUARY
Brenda Marie Bitzan, age 51, of St. Paul, MN, died on Monday, June 1, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 2, 1964 to Bernie and Bonnie (Squier) Bitzan of Alexandria.
Following her schooling in Alexandria, Brenda moved to Texas where she met and married Floyd Spencer. She was blessed with two children, Nick and Starsha. Brenda was and at-home mom until returning to Minnesota with her family. She worked in fast food and was educated as a home health aide. She worked as an aide for many years in the Twin Cities. Brenda also worked as a custodian for about four years at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She was working at Twin City Wire when she became disabled and could no longer work.
Brenda was an avid reader, lover of the outdoors and all things natural. Brenda saw and appreciated the beauty in the natural world that most people are too busy to see. She liked playing games and watching movies with her children and grandchildren. In her later years she spent her time volunteering at the Listening House in St. Paul in the summers and tutored low-income children after school with Geometry and Reading during the school year.
Brenda had a talent for drawing and often sent homemade cards and letters to her loved ones. She even enjoyed a light hearted prank on April Fools days and was always making someone else laugh about something. She had a passion for music and children’s cartoons.
Brenda Bitzan was preceded in death by her father, infant brother, Daniel, and grandparents, Peter and Rose Bitzan, and Opal and George Squier.
Brenda is survived by her mother, Bonnie of Alexandria; children, Nick Bitzan and wife, Amy, of St. Paul, Starsha and husband, Aaron Froberg, of White Bear Lake, Holly O’Neil of Browerville; grandchildren, William Bitzan, Joseph Froberg and John Froberg; siblings, Kevin Bitzan of Wadena, Becky Nohre and husband, Mark, of Alexandria, Curt Bitzan and wife, Jodi, of Alexandria, Doug Bitzan and wife, Paula, of Milaca, Janice Puckett and husband, Reese, of Lakeville, and Wanda Lillemoen of Shakopee; nieces and nephews, David Nohre, Scott Nohre, Kayla Nohre, Ashley Iverson, Aaron Bitzan, Jacob Warren, Cassy Warren, Mitchell Bitzan, Rachel Bitzan, Ethan Puckett, Ella Puckett, Brianna Lillemoen and Brayden Lillemoen.
A funeral service was held Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Reverend Father Steve Binsfeld officiated. Interment was private. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home.
