Carlson Janes

Arlene (Lykken) Janes-Carlson, 75, of Alexandria, MN, passed away at home under Hospice care on Tuesday, August 27 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Arlene was born in Fargo, ND on February 13, 1938. She graduated from Kindred High School and continued on at State Teachers College in Valley City, ND. Arlene was married to Damian Janes on October 6, 1962; they were married for almost 40 years. Arlene found love again after Damian passed away. She married Gary Carlson on April 15, 2005. Arlene worked for the Specialist-Internal Medicine for 25 years. She was also a Director for Mary Kay Cosmetics and had a thriving business for over 30 years. She enjoyed socializing, gardening, cooking and being a grandmother. She was also actively involved in New Comers Club, Alexandria Garden Club and the Alexandria United Methodist Church. Arlene is survived by her husband, Gary, daughters, Michelle (Rik) Schmidt, Beth (Shawn) Hostad, stepchildren Jerry (Ronele) Janes, Mike (Karin) Janes, Bruce (Patty) Janes, Mark (Debra) Carlson, Heidi Carlson, Juli (Dan) Holst, Eric (Karla) Carlson, grandchildren, Brianna, Shyanne, Gabe, Caleb, Zoe, Colene, Brian, Nikkole, Alysha, Kyle, Adam, Amy, Sam, Hannah, Abbi, Noah, August and Josie. Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Lorraine Lykken, first husband Damian Jane and granddaughter Ann Marie Janes. The funeral service will be held at 10am, Saturday, August 31 at Alexandria United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30 from 4-7pm at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria.
