Carmen Ruth Anderson was born in Fargo, North Dakota on July 22, 1936. She was the only child of Arthur and Lenna Anderson. She graduated from Mayville High School and furthered her education attending Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri for two years.
In 1957, she moved to Detroit, Michigan where she worked for United Airlines as Executive Secretary to the President. She loved this job as she got to travel the world. One of Carmen’s favorite experiences was traveling to Russia as the Executive Diplomat for United Airlines in a visit to establish trade routes. After working for the airlines for 15 years. Carmen moved to Denver where her mother lived and where she was employed for a mortgage loan company. She enjoyed the Denver area and in 1989 she retired. In 2003 she moved to Alexandria to be close to more relatives. In her retirement, Carmen enjoyed being the historian for the Anderson and Hayes families. She was affectionately known as “Carmie” to many of her family and friends.
Carmen passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Nelson Gables in Alexandria. Carmen is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by cousins Richard (Sue) Anderson from Evansville, MN; Margaret (Elton) Chatfield from West Covina, CA; Kipp (Chris) Hayes from Alexandria, MN; and Dan Hayes from Moline, IL.
