Carol Marie (Ebert) Peterson was born on March 30, 1941, in Big Stone, SD to Robert and Ellen (Peterson) Ebert. She graduated from Ortonville High School and was drummer in the high school band. Carol worked at Milbank Mutual Insurance in Milbank after graduation.
Carol was united in marriage to Allan Peterson at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville. The couple made their home in Watertown, SD and were blessed with 4 children, Pam, John, Kerry and Kathy. Carol was a hardworking homemaker; she gardened, canned, cooked and took care of the children. In 1972, the family moved to Alexandria. Carol started working as a lunch lady at Lincoln Elementary School in 1978. She worked there for 17 years before she retired in 1995. Carol then focused her time and energy on being a devoted grandmother, being involved with all her grandkids. She treasured the one on one time she took with each grandchild.
Carol was very involved at St. Mary’s Catholic Church serving as Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan. She was a very avid reader and taught her love of reading to her children. Carol also enjoyed animals from their dogs and cats, to watching the birds.
